RUYTERWACHT SERVICE CENTRE

The Ruyterwacht Service Centre provide 280 elderly and disabled members with two subsidised meals per week, as well as run a two-day soup kitchen for the whole area. About 87% of the Centre members receive a pension of less than R1300 which has to cover all expenses. At the end of each year the Centre closes for a month and no meals are provided. Christmas hampers with a wide variety of necessities are handed to members at their year end closing. During 2009 the EPFCA, in liaison with the Reformed Church, gladly contributed much-needed cleaning products towards the hampers. A big thank you to everyone for their generous contributions, especially Franklin, who donated an ample amount towards this worthy cause.

THE SALVATION ARMY

During each year while spring cleaning our homes, we put aside anything and everything we do not want and/or use anymore, but that is still in working condition. These articles are donated to the Salvation Army to be distributed among people who loose their entire belongings during devastating disasters, such as fires and floods.

A special word of thanks to W.P. for his continuous loyalty to this annual charity drive. Also a BIG thank you to Amy for organising the delivery and/or collection of all donations.

TYGERBERG HOSPITAL

During 2006 we had a knitting marathon during which we finished armfuls of jerseys for HIV/AIDS babies in Tygerberg Hospital to help provide some much-needed warmth for the cold winter months.

Thanks to Ria and Sarlene for organising and delivering boxes full of jerseys and soft toys to the Tygerbear Social Work Unit for Traumatised Children and Families

NO LIMITS STREET CHILDREN PROGRAM

During May 2005 and 2006 proceeds of our Rock 'n' Roll Evening benefitted No Limits, an independent outreach program, who provides a holistic service to empower and develop street children to reunite with their family or community of origin.

The evenings of dance and fun with friends and family, live entertainment, prizes and lucky draws, was a success and we could hand over R2000,00 of proceeds to No Limits.
